ST. PAUL -- St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis is in St. Paul today attending the first of several meetings for a new Tax Reform Advisory Group appointed by Governor Mark Dayton.

Kleis was asked, in part, because of his displeasure with the current formula for Local Government Aid.

Kleis says cities like St. Cloud are put at a disadvantage because they are regional centers and the demands for services are much higher than many other communities. He says sales taxes that are collected locally don't get sent back at the same level.

Kleis is one of 15 Minnesota mayors who are charged with presenting tax reforms to the state legislature next year.
