ST. CLOUD -- The open spot on the St. Cloud city council has been filled.

Steve Laraway has been chosen to fill the seat in Ward 2 this (Tuesday) afternoon.

During last night's (Monday) city council meeting Laraway presented his case to be on the council. He says he decided to run to give back to the community.

"I believe you should give back to the community, where you live, where you earn a living, and that has given so much to you," says Laraway.

Laraway is president of Laraway Financial. He says he has three goals he hopes to achieve during his time on the council.

"One would be economic development and growth, strengthen the core neighborhoods and to grow air service for our city and region," says Laraway.

Laraway was not in attendance during today's selection.

Steven Baklaich, Emily Esch, Seal Dwyer, Sonja Berg, and Nick Hall were the other finalists.

The seat became vacant when Nancy Gohman resigned from the council May 26th.
