Skateboarder Hurt After Being Hit by A Car
ST. CLOUD -- A teenager was hurt after he was hit by a car while riding his skateboard this (Wednesday) afternoon.
The incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of 30th Avenue and Highway 23.
Sergeant Jason Burke says 75-year-old Conrad Overboe was stopped on 30th Avenue when he started to turn east onto Highway 23 and struck 19-year-old Michael Lais of Savage, who entered the roadway on a longboard.
Overboe told police he checked for traffic before pulling out onto the highway, while the victim said he saw the vehicle wasn't coming to a complete stop, thought it would and entered the roadway.
The victim was taken to St. Cloud hospital with minor injuries.
Police say due to conflicting stories and no independent witnesses, no citations were issued.
