SAUK RAPIDS - The Sauk Rapids City Council has voted to spend more money now, in order to save money in the long run.

During last (Monday) night's meeting the council approved $93,000 in energy efficiency upgrades for their new Government Center.

The upgrades include everything from how the roof and walls are built, the glass they use in the windows, and to the light switches.

The upgrades are expected to save the city $14,000 a year in energy costs, and will pay for themselves in 5 1/2 years.

They'll also get a $16,000 rebate check from Xcel Energy.
