The American Red Cross is facing a blood donation shortage greater than any in the last 10 years.  More than 14,000 appointments have been canceled nationwide in the last month.

Sue Gonsoir is the Communication Program Manager for the organization, and she says poor weather, leading to canceled appointments, is largely to blame.

She says that, while Minnesota has not experienced the extreme drop like other states, more volunteers are still needed.

Gonsoir says Type O-negative is especially needed at this time. You can make an appointment to donate by calling 1-800-733-2767.
