Police Nab Tree Thief in Downtown St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD - The newly planted trees along the renovated River's Edge Convention Center are very nice.  And, at least one person thought they would make a great Christmas tree.

On Sunday night, a St. Cloud police officer caught a man walking down the street -- tree in one hand, saw in the other.

Police say the man told them his girlfriend told him to cut the tree because they couldn't afford one.

He was cited for property damage and the city is planning on seeking restitution.
