Place of Hope Hosts Empty Bowl Soup Feed Benefit [VIDEO]
ST. CLOUD - Soup was on at the Calvary Community Church on Sunday for the Empty Bowls Soup Feed Benefit.
Money raised at the event will go towards feeding the hungry. Proceeds will help the Place of Hope Ministries replenish Anne's Meals Fund. Pastor Carol Smith says the event is about raising awareness on those who don't have enough to eat.
"The purpose of empty bowls is for people to understand that somewhere there is always someone with an empty bowl," Smith says.
A handcrafted wooden bowl created by the Mid Minnesota Association of Woodturners was given to every person eating at the event. Dozens of local restaurants and stores also came out to support the cause.
"We have over 40 restaurants that have donated food, it's just awesome-it's a great community event," Smith says.
