Mother Bear Kills Dog in Sherburne County
ZIMMERMAN - A bear and her three cubs killed a dog in Sherburne County.
Sheriff Joel Brott says they received information from the DNR that the bear was in the back yard of a home east of Zimmerman feeding at a bird feeder.
Brott says it's not uncommon for a bear to be spotted in Sherburne County, however it is rare for there to be an incident such as this.
Common food sources like bird feeders, garbage cans, dog food, and barbeque grills should be stored where bears don't have access, until their natural foods are available.
If anyone sees a bear, you should contact the assistant wildlife manager at 320-255-4279, or the conservation officer at 763-497-5880. If the bear is an immediate threat to public safety you should call 911.
