Man Convicted in Fatal Shooting Outside Minnesota Hotel
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A jury has convicted a 27-year-old Minneapolis man who fatally shot another man during a late-night brawl outside a Brooklyn Center hotel.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says jurors found Antonio X. Daniels guilty Friday of second-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Michael McGowan of Minneapolis outside a Days Inn.
Police were called early on Aug. 22, 2013, to a Super 8 Motel, where McGowan had collapsed in an entryway. He had been shot in the chest in the neighboring Days Inn parking lot.
Authorities say Daniels was among a group of men who got into a fight with other men, including McGowan, when Daniels pulled a gun and shot McGowan.
Daniels claimed he shot McGowan in self-defense. Reports say sentencing is set for April 3.
