ST. CLOUD - The unemployment rate in the St. Cloud metro area dropped in August.  The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says it's now at 5.5%, down from the 5.9% that we had in July.

The unemployment rate is a half-point lower than what it was in August of last year.

St. Cloud's unemployment rate is lower than the statewide average of 5.9% and the national average of 8.1%.

Minnesota Metro Unemployment Rates:
Rochester - 4.7%
Mankato - 5%
St. Cloud - 5.5%
Twin Cities - 5.7%
Duluth - 6.7%

Meanwhile, if you are looking for a job, the 16th Annual St. Cloud Area Job Fair is tomorrow (Tuesday) from 12:30 until 4:30 p.m. at the River's Edge Convention Center.
