Listening Sessions Set For Sauk Rapids-Rice Facility Proposal

SAUK RAPIDS - The Sauk Rapids Rice School District is hosting a series of community meetings to discuss their facility needs.

Back in June, a community task force recommended the district build a fourth elementary school and replace Pleasantview Elementary with a new building. Sauk Rapids-Rice is dealing with space concerns after seeing their enrollment grow by 800 students over the last six years.

The district is now hosting several open listening sessions with community members who have questions or feedback on the proposal: The first meeting is Monday (the 26th) at 5:30 p.m. at Rice Elementary.

The other meetings will be:

• October 10th 7:00 a.m. at the District Office Curriculum Center.
• October 24th 5:30 p.m. at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School community room.
• November 14th 5:00 p.m. at Pleasantview Elementary.

The District says tours of Pleasantview will be given so you can see the needs identified by the community taskforce. The results of the listening sessions will be presented to the school board in December.

Superintendent Dan Bittman has previously said that any potential referendum wouldn't be until May 2017 or November 2017.
