CLEAR LAKE -- A large barn fire in Clear Lake had 10 different fire departments on scene for over 12 hours yesterday (Monday).

The incident happened at about 10:45 a.m. in the 10,000 block of 92nd Avenue in Clear Lake Township.

Clear Lake Assistant Fire Chief Chad McKay says the homeowners had a burn pile going outside which spread to an old barn, causing the barn to go up in flames.

The fire continued making it's way to a new pole shed.

McKay says they used around 800,000 gallons of water on the barn and about 15,000 bales that caught on fire before the was put out at around 11:00 p.m.

The homeowners were not hurt but a few fire fighters suffered minor injuries.

The barn was a total loss but fire crews were able to save the pole shed.
