UNDATED - If you failed to file a tax return back in 2008, the government might owe you some money.

I-R-S spokeswoman Carrie Resch says more than $12.8 million in refunds is owed to more than 15,000 Minnesota workers who did not file a return three years ago.

The law says taxpayers have a three-year window to claim a refund.  The window for 2008 closes on April 17th of this year.  If no return is filed, the money becomes property of the U.S. Treasury.  There's no penalty for filing a late return that qualifies for a refund.
