INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) -- Police in Inver Grove Heights are asking for the public's help finding the hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 55-year-old woman.

Police say the victim, Haimanot Gebremedhin of Inver Grove Heights, was found by a passer-by who flagged down a police officer just before 6 p.m. Saturday. Responders tried to revive the victim, but she died.

Authorities say the victim was struck on 80th Street, east of Blaine Avenue. Anyone who was driving in that area around the time of the crash is asked to call the Inver Grove Heights Police Department.

The Minnesota State Patrol is helping to reconstruct the collision.
