ST. CLOUD -- Gamers from around the area attended first-ever Granite City Game Day today at the Whitney Center in St. Cloud.

Local game shop owners like Justin Willard of LionHeart Games put on the inaugural event.

"We're set up [demonstrating] a bunch of games that we do in-store that we sell, that we're playing, that we have organized play for," Willard says.

"We're kind of here trying to spread the word and build a community."

Willard says the first Granite City Game Day has been a success.

"It's been a good [event] - it's our first one, so hopefully, we'll continue to do them and make it grow," Willard says.

"It's been really good to see that more and more people are getting into the gaming part of the culture."

Willard says anybody interested in getting involved are encouraged to do so.

"Come to some of these events, stop into the store, check some of [the games] out," Willard says.

"Find out which ones you like and we'll go from there."
