HILLMAN -- A Foley man is safe after the ATV he was driving fell through the ice last (Sunday) night.

The incident happened at about 6:45 p.m. on Platte Lake, in Richardson Township, just north of Hillman.

Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen says 69-year-old James Pattock, of Foley, was riding his ATV when it went through the ice, about five hundred feet away from the shoreline.

Pattock was able to pull himself out of the water onto stable ice until officers could rescue him and bring him to shore.

Larsen says this is the second incident over the weekend where an ATV fell through the ice in Morrison County. He reminds everyone with the warmer temperatures, the ice is deteriorating, and are putting yourself and first responders at risk of hypothermia.
