Minnesota is one of those states that is big enough, it shouldn't surprise you that plenty of things grow well here, even if you don't think they would. One of those would be grapes, and while Central Minnesota isn't Napa Valley, you can find some good locally sourced wines. One of those places is Northern Hollow Winery in Grasston...for now.

Northern Hollow Winery is gearing up to move, and it's good news for fans from St. Cloud, as the winery is moving to the Foley area. Well, specifically the winery will be located in Gilmanton Township, just outside of the city limits of Foley.

While the opening plans for the new building are still months away, an update was posted recently to the winery's social media page. Look at just how massive this place is going to be!

This is amazing that Jim, our boys, and some dear friends and family have framed this entire building! I am so proud of them all. This is in Foley. Opening date unknown.

On top of the wine they will be serving, it sounds like wood-fire pizza will also be planned at the Foley location, although we won't know how soon the pizzas will be coming out of the oven, until we get an opening date.

The winery is owned by Jim and Deanna Truehart, who started making wine nearly two decades ago with "just a plastic bucket and a 6-gallon glass carboy. My first attempt was a raspberry wine, which turned out to be undrinkable."

It's safe to say Jim and Deanna have gotten better at making wine, and it's good news for us too, as Northern Hollow Winery has won some pretty prestigious awards since that first batch of bad raspberry wine.

Northern Hollow took home the Governor's Cup in both 2017 and 2018, which is the highest award a Minnesota winery can win, in the state, and I believe Northern Hollow is still the only winery to have won the award twice, which is pretty cool.

You can learn more about the winery through their website, here, and follow along with the construction updates through the winery's social media page.
