ALEXANDRIA - Eastbound Interstate 94 has reopened to the east of Alexandria.

State Patrol Sergeant Jesse Grabow says they responded to a crash just before 4:00 a.m. A semi was on it's side, blocking traffic.  The trailer was loaded with bottles of diet coke, which had also spilled out.

The driver of the semi has been identified as 33-year-old Shane Bembenek of Mosinee, Wisconsin.  He allegedly fell asleep, causing the crash.  Bembenek, and a passenger, fled the scene but were found a short time later.

They were both taken to Alexandria hospital with minor injuries.

The semi had been put "out of service" at the weigh station in Moorhead six hours earlier,  because of a false log book, and operating a commercial vehicle without the proper drivers license.  Bembenek is facing charges.

The passenger has been identified as 35-year-old Kenneth Sherman of Wisconsin.  He had a warrant out on him for cocaine possession.
