ST. CLOUD - Road construction in downtown St. Cloud is slowly starting to get underway. So far crews have just shut down one block of 1st street between 4th and 5th Avenues.

Downtown Council President Pegg Gustafson says she's expecting work to start on 5th Avenue - between St. Germain Street and Division Street - next week.

She says, while it will be a long summer for businesses in those two blocks, the end result will be well worth it.

There's definitely going to be some added greenery - people want that for sure - and some benches, and there will be some room for people to have outdoor dining.

The project has to be done by Saturday, September 16th for the annual Takin' It To The Street music event.

Meanwhile, Gustafson encourages you to use any of the three parking ramps in that area when you go downtown to shop and eat.

The opening of a new downtown St. Cloud loft condominium has been delayed. The original opening date was June 30th, but Downtown Council President Pegg Gustafson says it will probably be closer to the end of August before the building is finished.

Meanwhile, she says the developers are starting to sell some lofts.

I believe they have two sold, and they're just getting into that process.  I could not be more excited, it's 11 years in the making and here we are.

There are a total of 47 units in the six-floor building. They range in price from $179,000 to $360,000.

There was a ceremonial groundbreaking back in December of 2015.
