COLLEGEVILLE -- Picking apples and pumpkins is an Autumn tradition in Minnesota and Collegeville Orchards near St. John's University features fun activities for the whole family.

Todd Beumer of Collegeville Orchards says the season has been a success, despite some odd weather patterns in the last several months.

"The apples were slow to ripen and then when we got that cold spell earlier in September, that actually accelerated everything," Beumer says.

"Almost all of the varieties [of apples] kind of ripened at once."

With the mild Fall weather in recent weeks, Collegeville Orchards has been a popular destination for families around the area.

"It's been good," Beumer says. "Last Fall we had a lot of rainy weekends...the weather drives everything."

"This past weekend when temperatures were in the upper 70s," Beumer says. "It was crazy out here."

Along with the apples and pumpkins, Collegeville Orchards features wagon rides, a petting zoo and a Fall Festival on October 11th and 12th.

Collegeville Orchards is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through November 2nd.
