Travel Smarter: MSP RESERVE Program Cuts Wait Times At Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport

It's Dream Getaway season here in Central Minnesota, you can learn more about what that means, here, but if you are looking at getting away this winter, you might want to look into making an appointment for getting through airport security. YES, you can now reserve your spot in line at MSP, for less hassle in an otherwise often tense and stressful experience

The program, which is offered for free at the Minneapolis-St. Paul allows travelers to reserve a spot in the TSA line, ahead of their arrival. There are several steps you've got to take in order to accomplish the line reservation, but it's pretty simple to do, but you've got to do those steps.

According to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport - the program is called MSP RESERVE:

The MSP RESERVE program has its own dedicated lane at the TSA Checkpoints, reducing the wait time for those who participate. The MSP RESERVE program allows guests to schedule a specific time for their TSA security screening. All you need to do is reserve your time and show up at your assigned checkpoint at your appointment time.

Now, just because you've reserved your spot, doesn't mean you get to skip the line altogether, you still need to be screened, but you don't have to start all the way at the back of the line. If you are interested in trying this, here are the steps you've got to take.

Sign up in advance  up to seven days before your flight or when you arrive at the airport.
When making an appointment, enter your trip details (airline, destination, and flight number) along with your name, contact information, and party size.
When it is time for your appointment, go to the Security Checkpoint and follow the signs for MSP RESERVE. You can plan your route with our interactive map.
Show airport staff your appointment confirmation and enter the screening queue.
Eat, shop, or relax before your flight! Consider ordering food and coffee online to bypass the lines.
