Benton Commissioners to Appoint Interim County Attorney

FOLEY -- The Benton County Board of Commissioners tomorrow (Tuesday), will finalize the process of selecting a new county attorney. Current County Attorney Robert Raupp has been appointed to a judgeship in Foley.

County Administrator Monty Headley says they must first appoint an interim county attorney.  Headley says he'll recommend to the board Karl Schmidt be named the interim county attorney.  Schmidt currently works in the Benton County Attorney Office.

Raupp's last day will be June 3rd. His term runs until January 2015.

Headley says the board could do a widespread search for Raupp's replacement or seek candidates who are already in the county attorney's office. In the past, the county has always done a formal external search to replace department heads.
