ST. CLOUD -- Earth Day 2017 officially kicked off Friday afternoon with the start of the BLEND Kids Health and Fitness Expo at the St. Cloud State University Field House.

Several booths featuring local, regional and national vendors are set up selling, sampling and showing off the latest products in running and fitness are just some of the things you'll find at the expo.

Race Director Evin Haukos says the annual event has become a staple to the entire community.

"It's just incredible the amount of companies and individuals that get on board with this," says Haukos.

The day wraps up with a kids 1K starting at 6:00 p.m. and the 5K is at 6:30 p.m. followed by post-race party with live bands and a beer garden.

The Earth Day half marathon kicks off Saturday morning. Haukos says they are expecting a large turnout.

"The Scheels half marathon and the relay kick off tomorrow. It's going to be another awesome event, we have about 2,000 participants total in that event as well," says Haukos.

Haukos says while the 5K is closed to additional runners there is still time to sign up for the half marathon.
