MELROSE -- Zebra mussels have been discovered in another Stearns County lake. The DNR says a service shop discovered five zebra mussels on a pontoon that had been pulled from Lake Sylvia near Melrose and notified the DNR.

A search of the small 85-acre lake turned up zebra mussels near where the pontoon had been docked. The DNR is now looking at whether any infestation occurred upstream or downstream.

Lake Sylvia will be added to the infested waters list.

Officials are reminding boat and cabin owners to check their equipment when removing it from the water this fall and notify the DNR if you find any invasive species.
