The Yankees scored early and often in a 9-5 win over the Twins Thursday afternoon at Target Field. New York swept Minnesota in the four game series.

Twins rookie Kyle Gibson was hit hard in his second Major League start, allowing eight runs on 11 hits in just over five innings of work. The Yankees built a 9-1 lead before Minnesota scraped some runs across late in the game.

Justin Morneau, Aaron Hicks and Pedro Florimon each had a pair of hits for the Twins in the loss. Minnesota has now lost five straight games and begins a 14 game AL East road trip Friday at Toronto.
