BUFFALO, Minn. (AP) - Wright County authorities say a 54-year-old farmer has died in a machinery accident.

The accident happened Friday evening in Stockholm Township, which is in the southwest corner of the county.

Sgt. Butch Darsow says the farmer had been trying to chop up corn that blew over in a windy rainstorm on Thursday for use as silage. But cornstalks became entangled in the head of the chopper. As the man tried to clear out the stalks, he became entangled in the machine.

The sergeant says two friends witnessed the accident but weren't able to rescue the farmer, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name has not yet been released.
