The Minnesota Wild topped the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 Monday night for their third straight win. Former Sabre Jason Pominville scored the game winning goal in his first game back since joining the Wild.

Minnesota started the scoring early with a Kyle Brodziak goal about five minutes in to the opening period, with assists credited to Matt Cooke and Jonas Brodin. The Wild have now scored in the first ten minutes of the game in five of their six games.

Brian Flynn tied the game for Buffalo about fifteen minutes into the second period with his first goal of the season, but the lead did not last long.

After Buffalo's Drew Stafford went off for hooking Dany Heatley, Pominville took advantage on the power play for his 22nd career game-winning goal at 19:50 of the second. Mikko Koivu and Jared Spurgeon were given assists on Pominville's second of the season.

The Wild are now 3-1-2 on the season and face a quick turnaround with a game at Toronto scheduled for Tuesday night.
