Vikings Sign Kicker Walsh to Extension
EDEN PRAIRIE -- The Minnesota Vikings have signed kicker Blair Walsh to a contract extension.
Walsh's rookie contract that he signed in 2012 was set to expire after the 2015 season.
The extension is for four years and up to $14 million with $5.25 million of that guaranteed which makes Walsh of the top five highest-paid kickers in the league, according to ESPN's Ben Goessling.
Walsh, a 6th round pick out of Georgia, has one of the strongest legs in the NFL and set a league record in his rookie season by going a perfect 10-for-10 on field goal attempts of 50+ yards.
Last season, Walsh struggled at times adapting to the outdoor weather at TCF Bank Stadium -- finished 26-of-35 for a 74.3 field goal percentage.
For his career, Walsh has 84.5 percent of his field goal attempts.
