UPDATE: Police Release Name of Woman Hit by Train

ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud police have released the name of the woman who was hit and killed by a train.  They say 37-year-old Sharlean Laitinen of St. Cloud was been killed by a train.

St. Cloud police say Laitinen was walking across the tracks on East St. Germain Street just before midnight last (Sunday) night when she was struck.  Gold Cross ambulance crews brought the woman to St. Cloud Hospital, where she later died.

Police say she and a man were trying to beat the train, the man made it across the tracks but the woman didn't.  The crossing arms were down, and everything from the railroad was working properly.  There were several witnesses, and no foul play is suspected.
