The Minnesota Twins fell to 4-8 on the season with a 4-2 loss to the New York Mets Saturday at Target Field. The Twins and Mets will close out their three game interleague series Sunday at Target Field.

The Mets scored all four of their runs in the fifth inning off Twins starter Scott Diamond on a solo home run and a trio of singles. Diamond pitched well in his 2012 debut outside of the turbulent fifth inning with one strikeout and no walks allowed.

Justin Morneau hit his first home run of the season off Mets starter Matt Harvey in the seventh to make the score 4-1. Josh Willingham doubled home Joe Mauer in the ninth inning to cut the Mets lead to 4-2, but that is as close as the Twins would get.
