Trucking Association Promotes Safety, Opposes Warehouse Sales Tax
ST. CLOUD -- The Minnesota Trucking Association made a stop in St. Cloud today to promote safe travel around trucks this holiday travel season.
MTA President John Hausladen says they want to remind you...don't hangout in the truck's blindspots, don't tailgate and don't cut in front of trucks.
Hausladen says they also oppose a budget bill at the capitol that will put a sales tax on warehousing in the state. Hausladen says "by adding a 6.5% sales tax to the vast array of warehousing services, Governor Dayton and legislators will make Minnesota the last choice for warehouses." He says it will have a trickle down effect on jobs and businesses in the state.
No other state in the U.S. has a sales tax on warehouse services. He says other states have tried and almost immediately repealed the legislation.
