ST. CLOUD -- At number eight in our Top 10 stories on 2014 on WJON, the St. Cloud Regional Airport starts direct flights between St. Cloud and Chicago.

St. Cloud made history back in May with the first ever flights between the St. Cloud Regional Airport and Chicago O'Hare Airport.

St. Cloud reached an agreement with United to provide twice-daily flights to-and-from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport on Skywest Airlines.

The first flight saw every seat of the 50-seat jet filled for the inaugural flight.

The airline totaled over 1,800 passengers who used the daily flights within the first month. Which was a total load factor of just over 39 percent and rose to 63 percent in August.

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says the city is committed to making sure the flights continue to succeed.

The St. Cloud Regional Airport also provides flights to Mesa, Arizona on Allegiant Airlines.

Tune in tomorrow (Tuesday) to see what story will coming in at number seven in our Top 10 list.
