Three Candidates Named as Finalists for Stearns Sheriff

ST. CLOUD -- Stearns County commissioners have chosen three finalists to fill the remaining term of sheriff after John Sanner retired last month.

Acting Sheriff Bruce Bechtold, Waite Park Police Chief Dave Bentrud and former Dakota County Sheriff Don Gudmundson will advance to next week's interview stage.

The county board will then appoint the new sheriff at the May 23rd board meeting.

The chosen candidate will serve out Sanner's term for the next year-and-a-half until it expires December 31st, 2018
