Stearns County is expecting a record amount of jury trials in 2022. That according to Stearns County Attorney Janelle Kendall. She joined me on WJON. She explains the reason for the record is a combination of a backed up amount of trials for the best two years and more cases going to trial from incidents happening this year.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Department is reporting a hit and run crash that happened on Sunday September 25th in the area of Beaver Wood Road in Linden Township. Alicia Mages from Tri-County Crimestoppers joined me on WJON. She says a vehicle was driving on County Road 44, missed the turn and crashed into the victim's garage located on Beaver Wood Road.
Inflation has many consequences and Stearns County's Human Services Department is seeing those. Michael Pooler is the Human Services Director for Stearns County. He says they are seeing an increased demand for SNAP food benefits. The Federal Poverty Guide determines eligibility and this can be updated every October.
Stearns County will continue collecting a 0.25% local option transportation sales tax for another five years to help pay for road construction projects.
