Hunting

Duck, geese, grouse and pheasant hunting has been going on in Central Minnesota. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. He says the weather has caused more ducks to stay in the area longer then they normally do. Schmitt indicates he doesn't expect them to stick around much longer but he's been seeing plenty of mallards and teal.

Stearns County sent a warning to all their newsletter subscribers this week about the upcoming hunting season.

Seeing the happy hunters brought back a memory I had of the first time I went hunting with my dad as a kid.

I started whisper shouting as best I could, "Dad your pants are on fire!!!", I got shushed because of the deer in close proximity to the stand.

Schmitt suggests to hunters that if they see the shells they plan on using for this fall which includes deer hunting to grab those.

Just when you think you can count on them to make your day, they throw you a curve and have the last honk.

The archery range is expected to be completed and open by September 1, 2021.

All of these challenges doesn’t mean we have stopped hunting geese. It does mean we plan our events a little differently.
