ST. PAUL  (AP) -- The Mississippi River at St. Paul is predicted to crest at 19.2 feet on Wednesday, but city officials say they are prepared.

The river is at what is considered major flood stage, but all the city's protective measures are in place up to 23 feet.

The river is forecast to drop to 18 feet by Friday and 16 feet by Sunday, which is considered moderate flood stage.

Harriet Island and other low-lying city parks remain closed and will remain so until the water recedes and city workers can inspect the areas and make sure they are safe.
