St. Cloud Prison Shut Out of Bonding Bill [AUDIO]
ST. CLOUD - The State Legislature has passed a $500 million bonding bill, with no money allocated for the St. Cloud prison.
The Department of Corrections spokesman John Schadl says they had requested $30 million for upgrades to the prisoner intake system.
Schadl says they also had plans to update the loading dock area, so trucks could drop-off their loads outside the prison walls. He says they'll continue to make bonding money requests during future legislative sessions.
The St. Cloud Prison is a level four closed security institution, with a population of about 1,000 prisoners. The facility was built in 1889.
