ST. CLOUD -- The city of St. Cloud will be looking for a new fire chief this spring. Chief Bill Mund is retiring effective May 22nd.

He started with the department in 1983 and worked his way up to assistant chief in 1995 and took over for former chief Mike Holman in 2003.

Mund says a lot has changed over the years including improved training for firefighters, new technology and making firefighters first-responders to emergencies.

Mund, who is an alumnus of Apollo High School and St. Cloud State University, says he and his wife plan to continue living in the St. Cloud area and has plans to golf, garden and travel. He looks forward to continue following SCSU athletics.

Mayor Dave Kleis says they're in the process of finding Mund's replacement with hopes of hiring someone by the end of February.
