MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minneapolis police say an officer opened fire after he was hit by a vehicle occupied by shoplifting suspects outside a grocery store.

Police say the officer got off one gunshot at the vehicle outside a Cub Foods store in south Minneapolis about 10:00 p.m. Saturday.

According to a police statement, the officer approached a vehicle of shoplifting suspects when the driver drove directly at the officer, striking him.

The officer was treated for minor injuries.

No arrests have been made. Reports say police are reviewing surveillance video as part of their investigation.
