ST. PAUL (AP) - Authorities have released the names of two Ramsey police officers involved in a fatal shooting outside a day care.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension identifies the officers as Officer Jerad Dixon, a nine-year veteran, and Officer Richard Webb, who has been with the Ramsey Police Department for seven years.

The BCA says Dixon responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot near the day care Thursday afternoon.

Dixon asked one of the three occupants to get out of the car. As Webb arrived, the man ran across the parking lot.

The officers chased him before the man turned and pointed a handgun at them.

Both officers fired, striking the man.

Both officers are on standard administrative leave.

The man has not been identified yet.
