MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Some Minnesotans are hearing thunder in November as a strong storm system sweeps into the Midwest.

The system brought soaking rains to the southeastern quarter of Minnesota on Wednesday. The National Weather Service says just over an inch of rain had fallen in the Twin Cities as of 7 p.m.

Small hail also dropped on parts of southern Minnesota.

Rain will fall through the night. Thursday will be cloudy and windy with lingering showers.

In northeastern Minnesota, the weather service says 2-3 inches of snow could fall in the Duluth area and 4 inches in the Arrowhead. Rain in northeastern Minnesota is expected to change to snow Thursday evening and continue until Friday morning.

The unseasonably warm weather returns Saturday. Highs statewide will range from the low to mid 50s.
