A local Minnesota Sheriff's Office has turned to poetry when describing a Christmas tree heist that was interrupted thanks to some investigative work from the Pine County Sheriff's Office.

The Pine County Sheriff's Office decided to channel their best Dr. Suess as they wrote a short poem about $10,000 in Christmas trees being stolen, and then recovered recently.

What do you think about the poem?

No one knows why a Grinch hates the whole Christmas season. Now please don’t ask why, no one quite knows the reason. But this caper of Christmas must not, because he did his best to cut down and steal the whole tree lot. Reportedly over $10,000.00 dollars of trees did fall. So to the Sheriff’s Office the victim did call. Deputies and Investigators took to the road and gained probable cause. They set out to find this not so Santy Clause. The trees were recovered and back to the lot they did go. Meanwhile Deputies waited for the Grinch to show. When he came out the Deputies he did see, and now the Grinch is in custody.

So far people seem to appreciate the effort of the poem as the post has been shared nearly 200 times as of 11:30 Wednesday morning.

When I first thought of someone making off with $10,000 in Christmas trees I immediately thought of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation where Clark Griswold and family head out to the Illinois woods to chop down a massive tree, and in the process, Clark is covered for days in sticky sap.

It's unclear if the person or persons responsible were covered in sap like Clark Griswold, helping law enforcement investigate the Christmas tree theft.
