ST. PETER, Minn. (AP) - A Bemidji man who's already charged with beating a man to death in a psychiatric hospital has also been accused of assaulting another man.

Thirty-two-year-old Darnell Dee Whitefeather is already charged with second-degree murder. Reports say a criminal complaint filed this week outlines additional allegations stemming from a fight a week earlier in the Minnesota Security Hospital in St. Peter.

Prosecutors say Whitefeather broke another inmate's nose on Jan. 15. They say he then killed another patient on Jan. 22, allegedly because he was angry at staff and wanted to get their attention.

The complaint says Whitefeather attacked the first inmate after accusing the man of being a child molester.

Whitefeather is being evaluated to see if he's competent for trial.
