There’s no doubt that technology has made products much better, but still not perfect. It’s a regular occurrence that a company must recall something they’ve made due to a malfunction or defect.

When the recalls happen, the company must fix the part that’s causing the problem, which is expensive for them, but it’s better than someone being seriously injured or worse.

If you drive a Ford, Lincoln, Mercury or a Mazda, heads up, this recall is for you. According to National Highway Safety Commission, “DO NOT DRIVE” recalls have been placed on over 450,000 vehicles from the two brands.

The model dates go as far back as 2003 and include vehicles as recent as 2015 that are included in the recall.

The recall stems from issues from the type of airbag these vehicles have installed in them. These models contain Takata airbags which are feared to rupture during a crash.

The explosion of the airbags could cause severe injury or death according to the National Highway Safety Commission. If you have one of these vehicles that has an open Takata airbag, you should contact your dealer and set up an appointment to have the airbag repaired for free.

The Safety Commission stresses you should not operate your vehicle until the repair is made. The number of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles under the recall is over 374,000 and over 82,000 Mazda models.
