ISLE -- When the walleye fishing season opens May 11th, anglers will be able to take fewer walleyes from Lake Mille Lacs and the slot limit will be between 18 and 20 inches. Anglers will also be allowed one of those to be over 28 inches.

Mike Christensen owns Hunter Windfields Resort on Mille Lacs. He's concerned about it hurting business, but they've weathered tight slot limits before...

And, while there's some disagreement about the number of walleye in the lake, most business owners feel the fishing will be good. Tony Roach owns Roach's Guide Service and says the tight slot limit will help protect some of the younger walleye in the lake...

Roach also says he believes there are plenty of sport fishermen who just love to fish and are out to catch that trophy walleye which is still allowed.
