ST. CLOUD - The Mexican Village in downtown St. Cloud is adding an outdoor seating area.

Construction is underway on a fenced-in area that will feature a pergola.  They've already knocked out a window and will be installing a doorway for customers to access the patio.

Owner Greg Warnert says they plan to have eight or nine tables outside, with seating for 35-40.

Warnert says city rules allow them to have the patio open for six months out of the year.  They'll dismantle it each fall, and put it back together each spring.

Right now the Mexican Village is open until 10:00 p.m. on the weeknights, and until 11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, but they may extend their hours until midnight if the patio is popular.

The plan is to have the patio area along St. Germain Street completed in time for Cinco De Mayo.

The Mexican Village has been a part of downtown St. Cloud for 33 years.
