ST. CLOUD -- A collection of 20 Mayors from along the Mississippi River gathered at the River's Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud for the second annual Mississippi River Cities and Towns Meeting.

The meeting is designed to help protect, sustain, and enhance the natural attributes and economic vitality of the Mississippi River through the signing of a memorandum of common purpose.

"The River is truly the most valuable asset of our cities," says St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis.

Mayor Kleis along with Francis Slay, the mayor of St. Louis, are the Co-Chairs of the MRCTI (Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative) and thanks to their partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers they feel they are one step closer to achieving their goals in preserving the river for years to come.
