Mauer Has Big Game In Twins Loss
The Cleveland Indians beat the Minnesota Twins 9-8 in 12 innings Wednesday night at Target Field to take the three-game series two games to one. The Twins begin a series with the Chicago White Sox Thursday night.
Joe Mauer did all he could to lead the Twins to victory, going 5-7 with a game-tying home run in the bottom of the tenth inning. Mauer finished with two runs and four RBI.
Clete Thomas had a three-hit game for Minnesota, and the Twins were much improved with runners in scoring position, going 6-13.
Jason Giambi led the Cleveland offense with a 2-3 night including a three run home run in the eighth inning off of Twins reliever Casey Fien that tied the game at seven.
