Man Gets Probation for Stalking Twin Cities Radio DJ
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - An Eden Prairie man will be on probation for five years for stalking a Twin Cities radio disc jockey.
Hennepin County Judge William Koch on Wednesday also ordered 56-year-old Patrick Kelly to stay at least 10 blocks away from Mary Lucia's home or workplace. Kelly also will have to pay more than $9,000 in restitution.
Kelly pleaded guilty in August to stalking Lucia, a host on Minnesota Public Radio's The Current. Prosecutors say Kelly sent unwanted communications and gifts to Lucia beginning in 2014.
In court, Lucia said she was so worried she could not sleep, could not eat and lost weight. She said the case left her "feeling powerless."
The case prompted Lucia to take a seven-month leave of absence. She returned to the airwaves last month.
