ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud man has been formally charged with interference with privacy after he allegedly was peeping into the window of a 17-year-old Sartell girl.

According to the criminal complaint, 22-year-old Vinh Vu watched as the girl came home last Thursday night and walked around the back of her house where he peered into her basement window.  It happened in the 300 block of 7th Avenue South. Records show a man at the house then chased Vu away and called police to report a prowler.

Officers say Vu was later found sitting on a nearby porch, out of breath with snow covered jeans on. Vu told police he didn't live there but was just resting.

Police were then able to match the footprints in the yard to the boots Vu was wearing at the time. He later admitted to peeping into the girl's window in hopes of watching her. He also told police it was not his first time peeping in windows and had done it several times in previous weeks.

Vu has been released from jail and has a court hearing scheduled for March 4th.
